Course Overview

The SFJ Awards Level 6 Award in Advanced Incident Command in Fire and Rescue Services is designed to cultivate the high-level technical knowledge and tactical leadership required for complex operations. Aligned with the NFCC National Operational Guidance, the course focuses on the cognitive and interpersonal command skills necessary for assertive and safe decision-making in the field.

The curriculum covers the Decision Control Process, advanced risk management, and the nuances of multi-agency interoperability (JESIP). You will be challenged to analyse effective leadership styles, manage media relations during developing incidents, and maintain personal resilience under the high-pressure conditions characteristic of advanced-level command.

Upon successful completion, you will be prepared for roles involving tactical authority, with the ability to progress further toward Level 7 Strategic Command if your career path leads to the lead authority level. NFCC recommends a revalidation process every two years.
